"WE WILL NOT DEFAULT ON SIGNED AGREEMENTS-PRESIDENT BUHARI TO THE SOUTHEAST

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the southeast of unalloyed commitment to Federal government projects in the region.
The President held a meeting with some political leaders From the region including the Deputy President of the Senate Ike Ekweremmadu yesterday.

In a report through the President's Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity Garbu Shehu, the President assures that in his best, the government will adhere strictly to signed agreements on ongoing projects.
"I assure you that we are doing our best and will not default on the agreements signed on ongoing Projects."

He noted that delay in signing the year's budget posed a solvable problem.
"When you sign (contracts) and you don’t pay, they (contractors) can legally jack up their costs. This is part of the problem.

‘‘The infrastructure budget is a deficit budget. The borrowing plan was only approved three weeks ago and all ministers and departments of government have been instructed to forge ahead. We must not find excuses for delaying the projects.
Also, the President stated that infrastructural development is key to success in businesses.
‘‘Developing infrastructure is the best thing we can do. When the roads are okay, the rails are established and there is power, Nigerians will flourish in their businesses.”
The meeting with the Southeast political leaders also had in attendance the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha; ministers of Science and Technology; Industry, Trade and Investment; Labour and Employment; Transportation and Power, Works and Housing.
