Facebook unvails a ten year road-map

The popular free social networking website (Facebook) which allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues has unveiled its ten year road map to make users experience a world of comfort and ease. In one of its managerial conferences the CEO Mark Zuckerberg laid the road map and everything they are building to make the world more open and connected
The map is aimed at introducing new technologies like Messenger bots which use artificial intelligence that makes it easier communicating with business partners. The technology will enable you to send instant message to a business partner and get instant reply without any special feature. It also has the Live API which can stream any live video form any device directly to Facebook.
In his page, he wrote "At our F8 conference this morning I laid out Facebook's 10 year road map and everything we're building to make the world more open and connected .We announced new technology like Messenger bots that use artificial intelligence to make it easier to communicate with businesses. Now you'll be able to send messages to a business like you do with a friend -- and get a quick reply without taking your full attention or requiring you to install a new app.
We also opened up the Live API. This means that you can stream live video from any device directly to Facebook.

Over the long run, we're building planes and satellites to connect everyone to the internet; artificial intelligence to help us interact with services more easily; and virtual reality to help us experience the world in a totally new way.
I've always believed that giving more people a voice makes the world a better place, and I'm excited about the future we're all building together."

President Buhari Orders the constitution of a technical committee on new China/Nigeria Infrastructural projects

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the constitution of technical committees which will be saddled with the responsibility of finalizing discussions on the new joint Nigeria/China rail, manufacturing, power and solid mineral projects in Nigeria. The technical committees have until the end of May to conclude their assignments.

It will be recalled that the President is on a week-long working visit to China.  According to the President’s Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) Garba Shehu, the President’s delegates in Beijing on Tuesday had talks with high ranking Chinese government officials led by President Xi Jinping

 Mr. President Buhari appreciated China’s readiness to assist Nigeria in her bid to industrialize and join the world’s major economies soonest.

The Chinese President agreed that Nigeria’s chosen path of development through economic diversification was the best path to thread on. China in its willingness to assist Nigeria, promised to fully support the country in its quest for rapid infrastructural development and capacity building.

China also expressed its interest as soon as the enabling environment is provided by the Federal Government, to establish viable projects in Nigeria. Such projects as refineries, power plants, mining companies, textile manufacturing and food processing industries

President Jinping in his response to President Buhari’s quest to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production offered a sum of 15 million U.S. dollars as agricultural assistance to Nigeria for the construction of 50 Agricultural Demonstration Farms across the country. Similarly, China offered to raise its scholarship awards to Nigerian students from about 100 to 700 annually. In addition, 1,000 other Nigerians are to be given vocational and technical training by China annually.

According to a report in Premium times, China and Nigeria also agreed to strengthen military and civil service exchanges as part of a larger capacity-building engagement.

The Chinese leader while assuring President Buhari that Nigeria will always have a special place in the affairs of the Peoples Republic of China applauded the war against corruption being waged by President Buhari.

Highlight of the event was the signing of several agreements and memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries.

Some of the agreements include;

·         “Framework Agreement between the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the National Development and Reform Commission of the Peoples Republic of China.”

·         “Memorandum of Understanding on Aviation Cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation (Aviation) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Ministry of Commerce of the Peoples Republic of China” and  

·         “Memorandum of Understanding Between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Government of the Peoples Republic of China on Scientific and Technological cooperation'

A Statement from the Anglican Communion’s secretary-general

The Anglican Communion Office has released this statement in response to recent comments on events leading up to the Anglican Consultative Council meeting, ACC-16.

1. Statements circulating about a failure to follow up on the decisions of the January 2016 Primates meeting at best give a false impression. The terms of the Primates decision about The Episcopal Church (TEC) have been followed through as far as is possible and legal. To say otherwise is misleading and wrong.
2. The Archbishop of Canterbury has fulfilled his responsibilities and asked those members of interfaith or ecumenical bodies who are from TEC and whose appointment he controls, to stand down, and they have done so. In addition, as required, he has appointed a Task Group with representatives from across the communion.
3. Archbishop Justin has refused to engage in any public response to statements and speculation by any party in advance of the ACC, having maintained personal and private contact with the Primates since their meeting. It has always been his intention to speak directly and in person to the ACC members, respecting their role and responsibilities.
4. A TEC representative whose attendance at the ACC Standing Committee has been commented on as breaching the decision of the Primates, was elected to the Standing Committee several years before the Primates' meeting. As the Standing Committee is a Trustee body under English law, they cannot be removed without legal cause, and neither the Primates nor the ABC, nor indeed the ACC, can override the law.
5. Under the Constitution of the ACC, no-one who is a recognised delegate from a member Province can be prevented from being nominated to the Standing Committee. However during their first day in session, Archbishop Justin presented a report to the ACC of the Primates meeting. As promised he requested the ACC to work with the Primates for the welfare of the whole Communion.
6. He said "As Archbishop of Canterbury (a separate Instrument) I have acted on the Primates' decision in those areas for which I have responsibility. It is both my and the Primates' desire, hope and prayer that the Anglican Consultative Council should also share in working through the consequences of our impaired relationships.”
7. There have also been suggestions of criminal action including forgery and corruption in which the Archbishop of Canterbury and Anglican Communion Office staff have been mentioned.
8. It is the practice of the ACO to book the flights and cover the costs for all delegates attending ACC meetings, though some choose to cover their own costs. To imply that on this occasion this established practice is corrupt is disingenuous. Tickets were arranged well before any indications of non attendance by a small number of Provinces.
9. The unsubstantiated public allegations of forgery against the members of the Kenyan delegation are scurrilous and untrue and are made in a manner against all biblical principles of appropriate behaviour.

I have not rejected the 2016 National budget-President Buhari

The presidency through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Upper legislature), Senator Enang has denied media report that the President has rejected the 2016 National budget. Senator Enang on Monday told journalists that any report alleging that the National budget is rejected is  false.
According the senator, what the President did before leaving for China was to send the copies of the budget to the different ministries to enable them (the ministries) furnish him with relevant information that would inform his assent.
“The president received the budget and convened an emergency Federal Executive Council meeting.
“He gave each of the ministers, departments and agencies the opportunity to look at the details as submitted by the National Assembly.
“This is to enable him get opinion on the state of the budget to enable him take a decision.
“The exercise was conducted on Friday and it is ongoing by the different ministers and ministries,” he explained.
Mr. Enang deposed that Mr. President was still under the constitutional purview of signing the budget.
“The constitutional time frame for Mr President’s receiving and considering the budget began on Friday last week.
“The question has not arisen as to returning or otherwise.
“But I want to say the best way we as liaison officers are handling this matter is to speak less and work more, creating interactions.
“So, we will raise more interactions, consultations, engagements.
“There is nothing for the country to worry about, because we do not want to have crisis between the Executive and the Legislature, and it would not arise; this is one government,” he said.

Senate to Presidency: Enough is Enough, Stop Setting the People Against Us!
The Senate today (Monday, April 11) advised the Presidency to come clean with Nigerians on the 2016 Budget and stop engaging in surreptitious campaigns of calumny against the Senate in order to cover up its serial errors.
Reacting to claims in the media credited to the Executive arm of government on the 2016 budget, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, in a statement in Abuja, said the National Assembly had bent backwards to wring a coherent document out of the excessively flawed and chaotic versions of the budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly.
He said : "while the executive is mandated to prepare and lay before the National Assembly a proposed budget detailing projects to be executed, it should be made clear that the responsibility and power of appropriation lies with the National Assembly. If the presidency expects us to return the budget proposal to them without any adjustments, then some people must be living in a different era and probably have not come to terms with democracy."
"We make bold to say however, that the said Lagos-Calabar rail project was not included in the budget proposal presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari and we challenge anyone who has any evidence to the contrary to present such to Nigerians."
Since the beginning of the 2016 budget process, it is clear that the National Assembly has suffered all manners of falsehood, deliberate distortion of facts, and outright blackmail, deliberately aimed at poisoning the minds of the people against the institution of the National Assembly. We have endured this with equanimity in the overall interest of Nigerians. Even when the original submission was surreptitiously swapped and we ended up having two versions of the budget, which was almost incomprehensible and heavily padded in a manner that betrays lack of coordination and gross incompetence, we refused to play to the gallery and instead helped the Executive to manage the hugely embarrassing situation it has brought upon itself; but enough is enough."
"This latest antics of this particular minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is reckless, uncalled for and dangerously divisive. Apart from setting the people of the southern part of the country against their northern compatriots, it potentially sets the people against their lawmakers from the concerned constituencies and sets the lawmakers against themselves. This manner of reprehensible Mischief has no place in a democracy. We hereby demand from Mr. Amaechi a publicly tendered apology if he is not able to show evidence that the Lagos-Calabar road project was included in the budget. Otherwise, he should resign forthwith.
"Finally, by the provision of Section 81 (4) (a) and (b) of the constitution, the President is allowed to sign the budget and kick-start the implementation of the other areas that constitute over 90 percent of the budget where there is agreement between both arms, even as we engage ourselves to resolve the contentious areas, if there were any. We therefore maintain that even this contrived discrepancies are not sufficient excuse not to sign the budget into law."
"We therefore urge President Buhari to sign the 2016 budget without any further delay. For every additional day that the president withholds his assent from the bill, the hardship in the land, which is already becoming intolerable for the masses of our people gets even more complicated. Certainly, as primary representatives of the people we shall not vacate our responsibility and watch the people continue to suffer unduly."

Wasted Years

I have come to realize that no year is wasted in the life of any great mind. The years that seem to be wasted to me are not wasted rather they represent the moments of greatest learning. I have heard people say ‘just look at me and how I wasted four or five years in the University studying this or that. I would have used those precious years to learn a thread and shoot my talented career to the apex.’
I have a friend and a course mate in the university who at present works with an electric power generation company. The last time I spoke with him, he was still lamenting after eight years of graduating from the university, of how he hated the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering he studied, as a course. If for no other cause, I know that at least  it is the certificate of the ‘hated course’ that has enabled him to work in such place yet he has continued to lament and tag those years as 'wasted.'

 But are these years really wasted? I am not of that view, I believe they have great lessons of their times to offer, they have helped in molding the person we are, helped in projecting us to the point we know what best to do. You know what? The people that regret do that without compromise and if anyone wastes today regretting yesterday, the risk that he would waste tomorrow regretting today without identifying what he has benefited from the day is there. Failures to me are not failures but the best point to learn and no one should be afraid of them because they make us a better we. Every day brings about its troubles, learning points and lots of goodies as well. It is not wise carrying over yesterdays' when I'm not done with today's troubles. Yesterday is gone, today is here, and tomorrow is next I will keep yesterday and its lessons just beside me; make best use of today's opportunity and prepare for tomorrow while it comes.

Do not be in a haste to condemn

Remember that the beautiful ones are not born yet, where you are today is not where you would be tomorrow, remembering the actions of yesterday brings about a rethink within you. So do not be in a haste to condemn
